Playtech is LSE-listed, publishes audited accounts and holds licences anyone can look up. We read the UK and Malta registers on 20 August 2026 — here is what they actually say, and what they do not.
Overview of Playtech
Playtech is one of the largest technology suppliers in online gambling, listed on the London Stock Exchange as PTEC and a constituent of the FTSE 250. It sells software and services to operators rather than running consumer casinos itself — after selling its Italian operator Snaitech during 2025 it describes itself as a predominantly pure-play B2B business.
It is best known for branded content, particularly the Age of the Gods jackpot series, whose games share four linked progressive pools. The range runs well beyond slots: live casino, the iPoker network, the Virtue Fusion bingo platform, retail betting terminals and sports.
We do not publish a game count or an average RTP for Playtech, and earlier versions of this page were wrong to. No authoritative catalogue total is published anywhere we could source, and an “average RTP” across a catalogue is an artefact of whichever titles a third-party database happens to list — not a studio statistic. History of Playtech
Founded in 1999 in Estonia, Playtech grew into one of the industry’s largest technology suppliers and floated in London, where it trades as PTEC. Its FY2025 results, published on 26 March 2026, reported group revenue of €764m, adjusted EBITDA of €197m and a €29m net cash position. Following completion of the Snaitech sale it declared a €1.8 billion dividend.

Great Blue is the cautionary case: that database publishes 94.3%, while affiliate pages across the market — and, until this update, other pages on this site — repeat figures around 96–97%. We could not reconcile them, which is exactly why the paytable inside the game is the only number that counts.

Licences: What We Verified
We checked the primary registers ourselves on 20 August 2026, rather than repeating what casino footers say. Both licence claims usually made on Playtech’s behalf hold up. One that is often implied does not: Playtech is incorporated in the Isle of Man, but no Playtech entity appears on the Isle of Man GSC online gambling licensee register, which we read in full (last updated 17 August 2026, 51 licensed companies). A company registration is not a gambling licence.
UK Gambling Commission — account 38516. Eight active licences and zero regulatory actions listed. Gambling Software (Remote) is 038516-R-319097-032, active since 25 September 2014; the Non-Remote equivalent is 038516-N-319098-021, active since 10 September 2018.
Malta Gaming Authority — MGA/CRP/137/2007. Playtech P.L.C., registration 008505V, holds a B2B Critical Supply Licence covering Type 1, 2 and 3 gaming services. Status: Licensed, with no termination date. Seven further group companies sit under the same authorisation — four of them with no “Playtech” in the name.
Conclusion
Playtech is a real, listed, genuinely licensed supplier, and unusually among game studios you can confirm that yourself in about a minute. That is worth something — but it is worth precisely what it says and no more. A licence held by the studio that made a game is not a licence held by the casino taking your deposit. It says nothing about whether that operator will verify your account fairly, honour its bonus terms, or pay you out. Check the operator’s own licence, on the regulator’s own register, before you deposit.
